Spiritual Significance
Abhijit literally means undefeated. Considered the 28th nakshatra in classical Vedic astronomy though most modern panchang systems use 27. The Mahabharata records that Lord Krishna was born during Abhijit muhurat at midnight. Considered cosmically protected — actions begun in Abhijit are said to be invincible. Some traditions hold that even if Rahu Kaal overlaps, Abhijit cancels its inauspicious effect.
