Spiritual Significance
Ekadashi is the 11th tithi where moon has completed 132 degrees from sun. Considered uniquely sacred for Vishnu worship in Vaishnava tradition. The Vaishnava saints (Tulsidas, Surdas, Mirabai, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu) all observed Ekadashi vrat for moksha purification. Each Ekadashi has its own name and significance — Vaikuntha Ekadashi, Mokshada Ekadashi, Devshayani Ekadashi, etc.
How to Calculate
Identify Ekadashi tithi in panchang. Vrat begins at sunrise of Ekadashi day and ends at sunrise of Dwadashi day (the next day). Strict observers begin vrat at sunrise of Dashami evening and break at Dwadashi morning. Apps publish 24 Ekadashis per year calendar.
